Where you’ll work:
At OVO, we understand that a one size fits all approach doesn’t work for everyone. That’s why we created the OVO Way of Flexibility.
All our roles are hub based (Bristol, Glasgow or London), providing a dedicated space for collaboration, connection and teamwork. You’ll also have the flexibility to work from home.
Everyone belongs at OVO
At OVO, we are on a mission to solve one of humanity's biggest challenges, the climate crisis. And we know it takes all of us to change the world. That's why we need diverse people from all abilities, gender identities, ethnicities, ages, sexual orientations, life experiences and backgrounds to join us.
Teamworking for the planet
Everything we do here spins around Plan Zero. So, naturally, the team you’ll be joining plays a gigantic role in making that happen. Here’s how:
We’re looking for an enthusiastic and talented User Researcher who wants to work on complex projects and support multiple product teams to help us reach Plan Zero.
As a User Researcher you will report into the User Research Lead and collaborate with a wide range of other disciplines. Working closely with designers, you’ll develop and execute research plans to support product development on a daily basis. You will also work with and mentor other researchers to develop and improve our collective expertise and ways of working.
This role in a nutshell:
We’re building the future of zero carbon living and we’ve got a lot to do. You’ll be planning, analysing, and communicating research, and helping to identify where it's needed. We see user research as a team sport so you’ll involve as many people as possible in generative and evaluative activities, collaborative analysis, and sharing evidence and insights. And as part of our user research practice you’ll help build up our research operations.
Your key outcomes will be:
- Strong qualitative and quantitative skills
- Experienced working on a range of complex project types including strategic discoveries
- Proficiency in a range of techniques and research methods that you know how and when to apply and can train others to use
- A strategic approach to research planning and coordination
- A rigorous and versatile approach to research analysis
- Presentation skills and confidence in playing back findings to audiences of different levels and disciplines
- The confidence and experience required to work autonomously on complex projects whilst also committing to achieving shared team goals
- Significant experience working with agile teams, as well as experience with evidence-based and human-centred design frameworks
- Enthusiasm to challenge yourself, learn more and teach others
- Adaptability to respond to changing circumstances and adjust research approaches where necessary
- An in-depth theoretical and practical knowledge of ethical best practice for user research
- The ability to mentor and coach more junior researchers to help them navigate their own challenges
Systems:
- Usertesting.com
- Qualtrics
- Dovetail
- Zoho
You’ll be a successful User Researcher at OVO if you…
- Are looking for autonomy and accountability to deliver great outcomes, while delivering value at the earliest opportunity
- You find new concepts easy to understand, and show the tenacity to keep asking until clarity is achieved
- You love sharing your skills and experiences with colleagues
- Know your strengths, yet recognise there’s always more to learn from others
- Are adaptable and take change in your stride
