UX Designer
£35,000 to £45,000 plus great benefits (Work Level 6A)
Manchester City Centre (hybrid working)
12-month FTC
We’re open to applications from people who may require flexible working arrangements. There’ll be an opportunity to discuss your flexible working requirements during the interview process, and at offer stage.
Please be aware Co-op does not offer visa sponsorship for this role
We’re looking for a UX Designer to join us in Manchester on a 12-month fixed-term contract and support our Funeralcare and Life Services team in creating clear, accessible, and engaging online experiences for our users. In this role you’ll work in a hybrid way – splitting your time between home and the office (find out more about our hybrid working policy at colleagues.coop.co.uk/hybrid-working-policy).
As a UX Designer at Co-op, you’ll be sensitive to the needs of our users. We’ll look to you to help provide products and services that help people to arrange funerals and purchase funeral plans as easily as possible. If you have strong design skills and value accessibility, we can offer you the chance to build a career with a business that’s using digital to make a real difference to our members and communities.
What you’ll do
- Optimise online user journeys based on accessibility, user needs, and commercial goals
- Collaborate with colleagues to improve the usability and accessibility of our products and services
- Create sketches, wireframes, and high-quality designs in Figma
- Collaborate with our product, engineering, and delivery colleagues across products and services
- Use product analytics, measurement, feedback and user insights to support decision-making
- Confidently communicate design decisions to other colleagues across Co-op
This role would suit people who have
- Experience as a UX Designer
- Experience using tools (e.g., Figma and Illustrator) and design systems, and translating ideas into high quality designs
- Experience carrying out usability research tasks, and facilitating inclusive feedback sessions with design and non-design colleagues
- An understanding of design accessibility and an interest in developing your awareness of the topic
- Good communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work inclusively
We know that some candidates are less likely to apply for a role if they don’t meet all the criteria in the job description. At Co-op, we're committed to building a diverse and inclusive working environment, so if you'd like to apply for this role but your experience doesn't quite meet every point, we'd still encourage you to apply. You may be just the right candidate for the job or other roles we have available.
Why Co-op?
If you’ve got the skills and experience we’re looking for, we can offer you a competitive salary and great benefits package which includes 30% off Co-op branded products in our food stores (as well as other discounts on Co-op products and services). You’ll also get:
- An annual bonus (based on personal and business performance)
- 28 days holiday (rising to 32 with service) plus bank holidays
- A pension with up to 10% employer contributions
- Access to a subsidised onsite gym (at our Manchester HQ)
- Coaching and training to support your career development
- Wagestream – a money management app that gives you access to a percentage of your pay as you earn it
- Grocery Aid – 24/7 access to a range of emotional, financial, and practical support services for you and your family
